The WTA is more and more inclined to innovation. The association has recently introduced the opportunity for their players to be coached on court to give some interesting insights also to the people at home about what’s going in the mind of pros. Now the WTA takes a step further to introduce the opportunity for coaches to talk to their players with some useful stats at hand using ipads.
The technology comes from SAP, the tour’s technology partner since 2013, and it will provide live data from the current matches.
How will it work
The idea will be introduced at the current WTA event in Stanford where the coaches are provided with an Ipad with a case produced with a 3d printer that will protect the device from the heat.
From the WTA
Stacey Allaster, chief executive of the WTA, commented “Ultimately this is to improve our athletes’ performance and provide richer data and storytelling for media. We are in the sporting entertainment business, it’s not just about hitting forehands and backhands.”
Great stuff!!!
