Italy wins the davis Cup after 47 with Jannik Sinner being the hero of the competition

Italy won its first Davis Cup title since 1976 thanks to Jannik Sinner's 2023 season, including a 6-3, 6-0 victory over Australian Alex de Minaur. Sinner won 20 of his final 22 matches and won ATP 500 championships in Beijing and Vienna. He also finished second in the Nitto ATP Finals behind Novak Djokovic. De Minaur managed to win just two more games against Sinner.

Italy Wins Th Davis Cup

Italy won its first Davis Cup title since 1976 because to a stunning finale to Jannik Sinner’s stellar 2023 season, which included a 6-3, 6-0 victory over Australian Alex de Minaur in Malaga on Sunday night.

Sinner turned Matteo Arnaldi’s three-set victory over Alexei Popyrin into a championship-clinching outcome with his crushing victory over De Minaur, whom he now leads 6-0 in their Lexus ATP Head2Head series. Sinner had saved three match points to defeat World No. 1 Novak Djokovic in the semi-finals on Saturday.

After winning 20 of his final 22 matches of the season after the US Open, Sinner went on to win ATP 500 championships in Beijing and Vienna and finished second in the Nitto ATP Finals behind Novak Djokovic, whom he defeated in a thrilling three-set battle in group play in Turin.

After an aggressive love service hold to start the match, De Minaur managed to win just two more games against an imperious Sinner. The 10-time ATP Tour champion dominated baseline exchanges, controlling play with 25 winners to just nine unforced errors. She hit with fierce power off both sides.

Jannik commented: “It has been an incredible feeling I think for all of us and obviously we are really happy. We kept together everything and obviously yesterday we went from one point away from being out and now we can celebrate the win. I think we can all be very, very happy.”
