Ivan Lendl has become one of the most admired coaches after he helped Murray to (finally) win a couple of slams (US Open and Wimbledon) to then “abandon” the Scott all of the sudden.
According to the tennis legend, he couldn’t commit anymore, but there was always the feeling that he would have given another shot to coaching if there was another interesting project around. Dimitrov seemed to be the “perfect next one” as the Bulgarian has an immense (and untapped) talent, but he is struggling to get that little extra to become a real champion.
After splitting with his coach Rasheed, Grigor has been spotted training with Lendl in the USA and that sparked all sorts of speculations about a possible partnership.
Not much time
Apparently things didn’t go as expected as reports say that Lendl refused to coach Grigor because he couldn’t commit the necessary time to work with him and he is not willing to travel around the world as a coach.
Tough luck!
