Lorenzo Musetti, the rising star in tennis, has teamed up with Corrado Barazzutti, former captain of the Italian Davis Cup and Billie Jean King Cup teams, in a bid to sharpen his skills and ascend to higher echelons in the sport.
Confirmed by Federica Cocchi to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Barazzutti will commence coaching Musetti post the Davis Cup Finals, aiming to bolster the player’s performance without displacing Simone Tartarini, Musetti’s longstanding coach. Barazzutti’s role is to provide additional support and share his wealth of experience with the entire team.
In a recent statement, Barazzutti expressed admiration for Musetti’s talent, remarking, “He is the best among Italians in terms of playing, but he needs to take a significant step in his gameplay, adopting a more aggressive approach, especially crucial on grass surfaces.”
This collaboration aims to merge Musetti’s burgeoning talent with Barazzutti’s seasoned guidance. Tennis enthusiasts anticipate an exciting evolution in Musetti’s game as he gears up under the mentorship of Barazzutti, potentially propelling him to new heights within the tennis arena.
