TWEENER. Sascha Zverev: “I hit my own balls”

Alexander Zverev laughed as he waved away a tweener attempt in his 2023 ATP Finals match against Daniil Medvedev.

Alex Zverev Plays A Tweener

In his 2023 ATP Finals match against Daniil Medvedev, Alexander Zverev dismissed a tweener attempt with a laugh.

Though it didn’t go the full distance, Zverev and Medvedev’s match at the ATP Finals was highly entertaining. Zverev took a moment to catch up, but Medvedev looked really sharp right away, and both of them were excellent after that. Zverev lost the first set after losing a 4-1 lead in the tie-break.

In the second set, Medvedev sealed the deal by taking command. Zverev, who was really involved in the game, put forth a respectable effort. An unsuccessful attempt at tweening was one of the scenarios that made him laugh. As Zverev put it, it backfired terribly.

Zverev discussed this in the post-match interview and said: “I mean, in this kind of match, yeah, there are a lot of emotions. I mean, I tried to hit a tweener and hit my own ball. That’s the reason I was smiling there.”
