Nick Kyrgios has denied rumors that he is close to retiring from the game and said he is motivated to return to the court.

Nick Kyrgios Reveals His Injury Update In Commentary Panel

Australian tennis player Nick Kyrgios made a horrible joke to start his TV commentary career before stating how hungry he is to get back on the court.

After knee surgery kept him out of the Australian Open, Kyrgios only played one match in 2023. A wrist injury then disrupted his plans to play in the US Open and return to Wimbledon.

The 28-year-old, who hasn’t played in a while, managed to secure a position as a commentator for the World Tour Finals in Turin. He joined the broadcasting crew on Thursday to cover the round-robin match between Daniil Medvedev and Alexander Zverev.

Though his first joke on the live commentary didn’t land, Kyrgios seemed upbeat as he joined Jim Courier and Brett Haber.

There have been some rumors that Kyrgios is about to retire from the game, but the Aussie star denied them and stated that he is eager to return to the court. Kyrgios said: “I’m doing everything I can to get back out there. Every day, doing the rehab, doing the gym work—but to be here, to be able to watch the match we’re about to watch. I’m really looking forward to breaking it down for everyone out there.”

He added: “I love watching tennis. I feel like I’m a bit of a student of a game. I watch my own films, and I have my own tactics. I’ve played these guys a lot, and I know what they’re going to be doing under pressure. I know how to have success and, equally, what their strengths are.”
