Rafael Nadal wins a solid match against Rising star Jiri Vesely in Hamburg.
The match was extremely tough with Nadal struggling with his serve (0 aces and 7 double faults) and Vesely at the top of his game. The King of Clay failed to serve out the match when he was leading 5-4 in the second set to squander a break point. Eventually he found his range again to win 6-4 7-6 (2). Match Stats.

Rafa commented “I think I played a good match. Something that I am proud of today, very happy with, my attitude and very happy with the way that I played. I just need a little bit more consistency.”
Next vs. Cuevas
Rafa will play Pablo Cuevas in the quarters “He’s one of the best players of the world, especially on clay. It’s a big match and I know I have to play well if I want to be in that semi-finals. I’m going to fight for it.”
They have played each other once in Rio this year when Rafa won 4-6 7-5 6-0.
