This tournament was an indication of his skill and determination as he overcame obstacles to get to the finals. He was clearly upset about the loss in the final, as he was seen crying.
In an honest discussion about his feelings regarding the defeat, Dimitrov spoke to the media after the game.
He expressed his thoughts after the loss and said: “It’s difficult to explain emotions, I think. You want it. You know, it’s tough when it doesn’t happen. I mean, I’m not ashamed of them. It just happened. I’m sad. Of course, I’m sad that I lost. It’s never fun when you lose in a final. I think for me now I have some time to reflect and move on.”
He further added: “Only I know, without feeling sorry for myself, what I have had to go through in recent months on and off the court. Those are tears of happiness. I don’t want to remember them as something negative. After all, I am human. I’ve been very close to getting something I really want for a long time. My goal was not to win the tournament, but it was more for the mental and physical side.”
