Alexander Zverev Expresses Fatigue Due To Scheduling Issues At Paris Masters

In a recent report by The Express, Alexander Zverev, the German tennis star, candidly shared his exhaustion after a grueling schedule at the Rolex Paris Masters. Zverev disclosed that he felt “dead” after finishing his second-round match just before 10 pm local time and then returning to the court less than 17 hours later. This revelation follows criticism from several players who have expressed concerns about the scheduling at the Paris-Bercy tournament.

Jannik Sinner, another participant in the tournament, faced a particularly taxing ordeal. Sinner’s match concluded at an astonishing 2:37 am, and he was originally set to return to the court for the last match of the day session. However, he eventually had to pull out of the competition due to fatigue.

Zverev, the 10th seed at the Paris Masters, experienced a demanding schedule himself. After a three-hour and 29-minute epic battle with Ugo Humbert, he finished his previous match at 9:56 pm local time and was back on the court by 2:40 pm the following day. Despite his admirable efforts, Zverev was defeated by the world No. 6, Stefanos Tsitsipas, who delivered a formidable performance with 10 aces en route to the quarter-finals.

Reflecting on his taxing schedule, Zverev stated, “I’m dead. I think you could see that on the court.” However, he acknowledged that it wasn’t just his match that was affected by the scheduling, as two other matches were staged even later than his.

Zverev’s comments come in the wake of widespread criticism of the ATP regarding scheduling issues at the Paris Masters. Players and coaches have voiced their concerns, particularly after Sinner’s round of 32 match concluded at 2:37 am. Such scheduling challenges have raised questions about the physical and mental toll on the athletes and their ability to perform at their best.

As the Paris Masters continues, the debate surrounding scheduling and player welfare remains a topic of discussion, emphasizing the importance of balancing a competitive tournament with the well-being of the participants.
