The 24-time Grand Slam champion, Novak Djokovic, has verified rumors that he and longtime agent Edoardo Artaldi have parted ways. The legendary tennis player has chosen to modify his off-court approach, indicating that he and the other player split ways during the Paris Masters.

Since early 2008, Djokovic and Artaldi have collaborated, but it is unclear if the close friend of Djokovic will continue to work for him in a different role. After his victory over Tomas Martin Etcheverry at the Paris Masters, Novak Djokovic hopes to end the year as the world’s top player and plans to completely restructure his backroom team until 2024.

Djokovic said when speaking on the split with Artaldi: “We stay friends but professionally we decided to go different ways. I’m entering a new chapter about the off-court approach. The transition is not easy but I’m moving forward.”

Artaldi’s departure is significant because he has been a part of Djokovic’s team for fifteen years, ever since the Serb won the 2008 Australian Open, his first major title. In a past interview, Artaldi revealed that, while Djokovic was on his global tour, they actually lived together.

Artaldi once stated: “Jelena and I try to create the atmosphere he needs, given how much time he spends around the world and away from his family.”

In 2017, Djokovic completely reorganized his squad, moving Artaldi from coach to physiotherapist and finally agent. But as Djokovic looks to make adjustments to help him rule the world tennis stage once more, the two have now fully parted ways.
