Before facing Holger Rune in his quarterfinal match at the Paris Masters, Novak Djokovic claims he has experienced stomach problems and has spent more time on the toilet than on the court.
The top seed in the world had to overcome a set deficit to defeat Tallon Griekspoor 4-6, 7-6(2), 6-4 on Thursday in the round of 16. In his first tournament since winning the US Open in September, Djokovic looked uneasy throughout the match and called a doctor to the court after the first set. Nevertheless, he was able to rally.
The 24-time Grand Slam champion disclosed the health issues that he has been experiencing in the French capital this week after the victory. He informed the media about his condition in Paris and said: “I’ve been struggling the last couple of days with my stomach, and I just didn’t feel myself at all. It’s hard to have a clear mind when you spent more time on the toilet seat than on the court the last three days.”
Djokovic concluded: “I don’t want to take anything away from his performance. He didn’t drop the level. I’m really, really glad to overcome this challenge.”
