Federer most marketable athlete in the world

Like the nice old wine an almost 34 Roger Federer is getting better and better in terms of appeal. Even if the Swiss Sensation has lost the recent Wimbledon final, his fan base is not dwindling at all.

Why is Federer the most marketable athlete?

According Jacques de Cock, faculty member at the London School of Marketing, King Roger is still at the top of the list of the athletes in terms of attracting sponsors and advertising.

The professor commented “He may not have won Wimbledon this year, but it’s Federer’s personal characteristics which sponsors find so attractive. Sport is the obvious way to do this due to the ‘hero’ status of many sportsmen.

Sports stars are also brilliant vessels for increasing brand awareness purely down to the sheer volume of people who watch sport.”

The List

The London School of Marketing researchers compiled the list of the most attractive athletes taking in consideration the brand value, the amount earned from sponsorship and the percentage of the endorsements over the total income. In the list soccer hero David Beckham has been excluded as he has officially retired.
