Ben Shelton has announced his favorite tennis player. This year, the rising star in North American tennis decided to give the ATP circuit his whole attention, ending his academic career at college. The young player rose through the ranks, won the ATP 500 in Tokyo, and advanced to the US Open Slam semifinal in one year’s time.
Shelton also hopes to carry on this winning streak in Vienna, where he will face Jannik Sinner in the ATP 500 first round following the American’s triumph at the Masters 1000 in Shanghai.
In an interview, the American tennis player discussed a wide range of topics, including his opponent, Jannik Sinner. Shelton explained: “He is only a year older than me and has achieved a lot. He leads a fantastic generation of young Italians and is among the top 5 of the next few years.”
Shelton further added: “Personally, I aim to lead my country first in the Davis Cup and next season at the Olympics. My favorite American tennis player has always been my father. If I have to go beyond the family circle, then I say Andy Roddick.”
He expressed his thoughts about Roger Federer and said: “I studied Nadal and tried to steal some secrets from him. But my favorite has always been Roger.”
The American also added some remarks about Novak Djokovic and said: “In three years, he will still be in the top five winning tournaments.”
