Emma Raducanu is one of the world’s most talked-about female athletes. The British tennis player, who underwent three surgeries, has been sidelined for the majority of 2023 but is still highly regarded.
She actually became so popular that, in the previous 12 months, she ranked third in terms of searches for female athletes. Between September 2022 and August 2023, the 20-year-old was searched 9.6 million times.
She is ahead of some of the biggest names in tennis and football. With 4.3 million and 5.4 million searches, respectively, tennis players Jessica Pegula and Naomi Osaka ranked 10th and ninth.
Megan Rapinoe, a famous American who recently retired after a long and successful career, ranks eighth with 5.5 million searches. The only gymnast on the list of the most sought-after female athletes is Simone Biles, standing at 6.3 meters.
Only Iga Swiatek and the current US Open champion, Coco Gauff, are ranked ahead of Raducanu, the 2021 winner of the US Open. Raducanu stated in a recent interview that she would be back soon and that she plans to return to court in 2024.
She stated in a recent interview: “I will be coming back with a lower ranking, but I’m looking forward to starting again and resetting. I already have that in the bank, so now I can keep going and build from here.”
