Promising young tennis player Holger Rune has expressed his enthusiasm for working with Boris Becker, the former coach of legendary player Novak Djokovic. Rune, currently ranked as the world No 6, is eager to glean insights from Becker’s successful tenure with the Serbian star.
Rune openly admitted his desire to “steal a bit” of knowledge from Becker regarding Djokovic’s coaching techniques and strategies. He believes that learning from a coach who has worked with a player of Djokovic’s caliber could provide invaluable lessons.
During his stint as Djokovic’s coach from 2014 to 2016, Becker played a pivotal role in the Serb’s career, leading him to six Grand Slam titles and 14 ATP Masters 1000 tournament victories. Rune’s decision to bring Becker on board as a coach underscores his commitment to further improving his game.
Rune, who has won two out of three encounters with Djokovic, is eager to continue his upward trajectory in the tennis world. Despite a challenging recent run due to a back injury, he remains confident and excited to learn from one of the sport’s coaching legends.
As Rune prepares for his upcoming match against Miomir Kecmanovic in the Swiss Indoors in Basel, he recognizes the significance of the guidance he will receive from Boris Becker, hoping it will help him reach new heights in his tennis career.
