Former tennis player Rick Macci has praised Carlos Alcaraz’s bold and daring approach, saying that the world has yet to see anything like the Spanish star from A to Z. However, the renowned tennis coach acknowledged that Alcaraz’s service could be improved and said he would alter one little thing about his serve.
In his incredible 2023 campaign thus far, Alcaraz has taken home six titles, including his first-ever Wimbledon triumph and two ATP Masters 1000 titles. Even though he has faced more difficulties since winning Wimbledon, the two-time Grand Slam champion has an outstanding 63-9 (87.5%) record this year.
In his most recent tournament, Grigor Dimitrov defeated Alcaraz earlier this month in the Shanghai Masters final 16. Due to a left foot injury and lower back muscle fatigue, the Spaniard has withdrawn from the Swiss Indoors in Basel, which takes place next week.
During an interview, Macci praised Alcaraz’s all-around game and talked about the importance of his aggressive and fearless mentality. He said: “I’ve been wrong a few times, but I’ve been right a lot. But with this Alcaraz guy, we’ve never seen anything like this from A to Z. Mentally, physically, and technically, every box is checked. There’s one little thing I would change: his service could be better because the percentage is not what it could be, but I don’t want to be picky. He is very good mentally.”
He added: “Everyone needs to understand; it’s not his turbo speed. He has creativity, but probably no one has made more mistakes in his life than Carlos Alcaraz, and that is why he earns more than anyone at 20 years old on the professional circuit. And it is a great lesson for any coach.”
Macci concluded his discussion: “You can’t be afraid to fail, because the more you fail, the more successful you will be. And you need to gather courage and try your shots at a young age. So that’s great teaching at a young age because he’s very adventurous because he thinks he can do it, where everyone else could play a little bit bigger.”

WWWWWWWWWW Now ranked no.2, Alcaraz played his last match on the 11th of October when he capitulated to world no.16 Grigor Dimitrov 5-7 6-2 6-4 in the 4th round in Shanghai (draw).
During this season Alcaraz achieved a 63-9 record. Alcaraz clinched 6 titles in 2023 in Buenos Aires, Indian Wells, Barcelona, Madrid, London and Wimbledon. The Spaniard got to the final in Rio de Janeiro and Cincinnati.
He is also scheduled to play in Paris (Rolex Paris Masters) after Basel. The main draw will start on the 23rd of October.
