It has been disclosed that Novak Djokovic, who signed up only before the deadline, would represent Serbia in the 2024 United Cup.
This means that the world No. 1 will play in this tournament to kick off the 2024 season, which is scheduled to take place in January between Perth and Sydney. The Serbian has already shared his thoughts on how one of the greatest honors, in his opinion, is to represent his nation. For this reason, he places such a high value on the Olympic Games.
After the combined event was staged for the first time last year, this will be the United Cup’s second edition. The top 18 nations from the previous season compete in a mixed-gender team competition on outdoor hard courts.
The United States emerged victorious in the inaugural tournament, with players including Taylor Fritz, Frances Tiafoe, and Jessica Pegula among their ranks. Additionally, after leading Team Serbia to qualification in the group stage of the Davis Cup last month, Djokovic will represent the team in the quarterfinals in November.
