Following his triumphant victory at the US Open last month, world No. 1 Novak Djokovic briefly stepped out of the tennis limelight. However, the Serbian superstar is now back on the court, preparing for his upcoming appearance at this month’s Paris Masters.

Djokovic made the strategic decision to skip the Asian swing of the ATP Tour to concentrate on his preparation for the season-ending ATP Finals. Winning the ATP Finals would mark his eighth time finishing the year as the world No. 1, extending his record.

Recent footage emerged of the 24-time Grand Slam champion practicing at a tennis center in Belgrade, run by fellow Serbian tennis great Janko Tipsarevic. During his training, Djokovic even had a friendly hit with a young and talented player, showcasing his support and encouragement for emerging talents.

In an interview with ESPN, Djokovic revealed that his approach to managing his tournament schedule was inspired by the practices of Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, both of whom reduced their workload toward the latter stages of their careers. Djokovic credited Federer for showing him how to organize his schedule to peak at Grand Slam events.

As Djokovic heads to Paris, he has a clear objective: to secure the year-end world No. 1 ranking. He is already closing in on this accolade, with Carlos Alcaraz being the only player who can potentially thwart Djokovic’s coronation as the best player in the world for 2023.

Djokovic’s smart scheduling and consistent performance have put him in a strong position to claim the prestigious year-end world No. 1 title, although he does have some points to defend from his previous wins.

Carlos Alcaraz, on the other hand, faces a challenging task if he aims to surpass Djokovic. While the young talent strives for the top spot, Djokovic’s experience and determination could secure him yet another year-end world No. 1 ranking. Tennis enthusiasts eagerly await the upcoming action at the Paris Masters to witness Djokovic’s pursuit of this remarkable achievement.
