Tennis player Garbine Muguruza admitted she currently has no plans to make a comeback, which disappointed tennis fans.
Following her terrible run of form, Muguruza stated in April of this year that she would be taking a lengthy vacation from tennis. In each of the Spaniard’s four games this season, she suffered defeats. She hadn’t actually won a game since defeating Despina Papamichail of Greece in the second round of the Japan Open in September 2022.
Muguruza stated that she has been enjoying her time away from the sport in a recent interview with the Women’s Health magazine. She also disclosed that she does not currently plan to make a return to competitive tennis.
She said: “I am living this break very happily since it was something that my body and my mind needed. So, I am really enjoying these moments. As of today, I have no intention. My plan right now is to sleep, rest, be with my loved ones, make up for lost time. I don’t see beyond what I’m doing today, tomorrow, and this week.”
Tennis fans, who were eagerly awaiting her comeback, were shocked by the former world No. 1’s revelation. Many expressed their best wishes after interpreting her remarks as a sign that she would soon be retiring.
