At the 2023 Shanghai Masters, Taylor Fritz and some other players were taken in by a fantastic prank pulled by Grigor Dimitrov.
The Shanghai Masters media team set up a session called ‘Lost In Translation’, where players, including Fritz and Tiafoe, were given directions to pronounce a Chinese sentence aloud without knowing what it meant.
They had no idea that Dimitrov was the one directing the players; he gave the producers instructions to control the players in accordance with his preferences. Dimitrov laughed telling Taylor Fritz to say anything regarding Morgan Riddle’s fame.
Fritz was directed to say: “My girlfriend is more popular than me.”Â
Dimitrov hilariously offered support from the background as the American attempted to pronounce the word correctly. Dimitrov said: “Come on pretty boy. Tell him to show us what he’s made of.”
When Fritz finally succeeded in speaking the words, he expressed his happiness. Dimitrov said: “Hey, that’s good. That’s good. Almost perfect.”
The 25-year-old stated humorously that his girlfriend was more famous than him after learning the phrase’s true meaning. He said: “I mean, you’re not wrong.”
Taylor Fritz’s girlfriend Morgan Riddle is a well-known social media influencer who has built a significant following by accompanying the American and sharing unique behind-the-scenes details about events all around the world.
