Novak Djokovic beats Jeremy Chardy in straight sets in the third round in Madrid.
The Match
It was an easy first set for Djokovic. He looked in supreme control and won the first set 6-1. Djokovic had a 4-0 lead in the first set, Chardy got three break points in the fifth game which he was unable to convert.
The second set was a close one and Djokovic saved a set point at 4-5 with very good service. The second set was serve dominated and lasted 48 minutes.
Djokovic beat Chardy 6-1 7-6 (2) in 85 minutes.

Why Djokovic was happy
Djokovic seemed to be very happy with his performance today and commented:
“I thought he elevated his quality in the second set. Less errors from the back of the court. More winners from the forehand. Better serving and also strong and deep second serves.”
About the 2nd set Djokovic commented:
“It was a very close second set. I was set point down and managed to find a first serve. But overall, I was very pleased with how I played.”
Jeremy Chardy has now lost 30 straight sets to Djokovic after this match.
