The 2023 champions, Novak Djokovic and Coco Gauff have clarified those discussions by making significant statements about the future of the Cincinnati Masters.
There have recently been rumors that the competition would eventually move to a different region. The two champs’ recent statement, though, is likely to please the local supporters.
The two made the announcement, putting an end to months of rumors about the tournament, that the Western and Southern Open will remain in Cincinnati. The possibility of shifting the competition to Charlotte, North Carolina, was being discussed among tennis players. A $400 million tennis facility was approved by the city council there in an effort to attract the Western and Southern Open to North Carolina. Their aspirations were put to rest by Djokovic and Gauff’s announcements.
A video of the two who shared the news about the tournament’s future was made public by the tournament’s organizers. In the clip, Djokovic said: “Hello Cincinnati, your two champions here. Your wonderful tournament is staying in Cincinnati…With more than $200,000,000 being invested in stadium improvements to raise the tournament’s prestige on a global stage.”
Meanwhile, Gauff also said in the video: “Hey Cincinnati, we have major news…It gets even better. In 2025, Cincinnati will expand to 2 weeks of competition for both men and women.”

Currently ranked no.1, Novak played his last match on the 15th of September when he beat world no.25 Alejandro Davidovich Fokina 6-3 6-4 in the Rubber 2 of the Davis Cup (draw).
This season Novak achieved a 46-5 match record. The Serbian has won 5 titles in 2023 in Adelaide, Australian Open, French Open, Cincinnati and U.S. Open. Djokovic got to the final in Wimbledon.
Djokovic has scheduled to play next in Paris (Rolex Paris Masters). He will begin to play the tournament from the main draw that will commence on the 30th of October.
