Fans have attacked Benoit Paire after some said he purposefully underperformed in his Challenger Tour match against Pedro Martinez.

In the first round of the Malaga Challenger competition, the French player took on Martinez, the hometown favorite and eighth seed. Paire appeared to be barely in the game as the Spaniard controlled the opening set, winning 6-0.

Paire decided to end the match after Martinez took an early break and was up 4-2 in the second set. Nonetheless, a contentious incident early in the first set prompted some to declare the contest “fixed.”
