Naomi Osaka’s partnership with coach Sascha Bajin was a truly remarkable one that lasted for a little more than a season. However, the tennis star has announced that she has ended her partnership with the renowned coach.
The timing of this announcement is quite interesting as it comes just 16 days after the Japanese star won the Australian Open to back up her 2018 US Open win. This has made her the WTA’s top-ranked player in the process.
Osaka announced on Twitter that she wouldn’t be working with Sascha anymore and that she thanked him for his work as well as wished him the best for the future.
Afterward, she elaborated her decision by saying that she didn’t want to put ‘success over happiness’ and denied allegations that Bajin’s departure was related to money.
Bajin insists that he remains on good terms with Osaka
Not much has been said by Bajin. However, he firmly states that he remains on good terms with Osaka.
At the Madrid Open, he said that there were some decisions and it was her decision to split. However, he respects her decision. He added that if there was success or not success whatever the case if she feels like it’s better to go then that’s her decision.
Bajin was asked whether he felt the differences between them were reconcilable and said that it’s something he felt.
Bajin has previously worked with other tennis stars such as Serena Williams, Caroline Wozniacki, Sloane Stephens and Victoria Azarenka.
