I started off not in the best possible way. I just tried to stay there mentally. I think I’ve done quite a good job. I got lucky when he had set point. I’m happy about the ending. I see the positive at the end of the match. I played a little bit better. Hopefully, it gives me confidence for the next round.”
He added after qualifying for the ATP finals in Turin: “I knew it before the match, so I wanted to accomplish this here. I’m very very happy. It was our main goal of the season. I’m very happy I’m officially in Turin. It means a lot, playing in front of the home crowd there. This event is coming in a couple of months. I’ll just try to stay focused. I know I can play well also here. Let’s stay in the present moment.”
