Coco Gauff's 15 Match Winning Streak After Defeating Veronika Kudermetova At China Open

Coco Gauff, the No.3 seed, extended her winning streak to 15 matches at the China Open by defeating No.16 seed Veronika Kudermetova in a challenging third-round battle. This impressive streak began after Gauff’s early August quarterfinal loss in Montreal. Since then, she secured her first WTA 1000 title in Cincinnati and became a Grand Slam champion at the US Open. Gauff’s winning record is one of the longest on the Hologic WTA Tour this season. She is now in the quarterfinals, marking her 11th quarterfinal appearance of the year, with seven at WTA 1000 level or above. Gauff’s remarkable achievements continue to solidify her position as a rising star in women’s tennis.
She motivate herself saying, “As the season winds down, especially once I’ve secured my spot in the WTA Finals, these matches are like a bonus for me. Looking back, I felt disappointed in my performance in the first two matches. I played cautiously, not taking risks with my shots and serve. Today, I reminded myself to be more aggressive, aiming for speeds of 110-115 mph.”
“In the bigger picture, now that the pressure’s off and the Grand Slam season is behind me, I see this week as an opportunity to focus on areas that need improvement. I approached today’s match with that mindset, and I wish I had done so earlier.”
