ATP MADRID. Djokovic optimistic ahead of his campaign in Madrid

Nole is hopeful for a good run in Madrid

Djokovic at the press conference in Madrid

Novak Djokovic is about to start his run in Madrid where he won the title in 2011 and 2016 (see Djokovic’ titles).

The Serbian is not having a fantastic season since he has been struggling with his results after the Australian Open. Before Madrid, the world no.1 had a quick break in Marbella where he got some time off with his family to recharge his batteries and be ready for the upcoming ATP1000.

Why Djokovic is optimistic

During the press conference preceding his opening match in Madrid, Nole commented

“I haven’t been maybe playing my best in the last couple of months. But I’m slowly building and hopefully I can manifest my best tennis here.

It is nice to be back in Madrid. I have had very good success and some good results here in the past. And I’m happy to be healthy playing Madrid because last year that wasn’t the case.

After surgery, I was on the way back and I still struggled a little bit with the elbow. This year’s quite different.”

H2H Novak Djokovic vs. Taylor Fritz

Nole will be opposed to the world no.57 Taylor Fritz. The head to head is 1-0 for Djokovic that conceded just 3 games to the American in their match in Monte Carlo a few weeks ago. The final score was 6-3 6-0.
