What a week for Christian Garin that claims his 2nd career title in Munich after a splendid week.
The Chilean no.1 achieved this feat after he defeated Sascha Zverev in quarters after saving 2 consecutive match points and following his 3-sets win over Matteo Berrettini in the final.
After exchanging the first 2 sets, Garin looked well on his way to win the title when he was serving in the decider (5-4) after he broke the Italian in the previous game. However, the Chilean failed to hold his serve and the affair went to the decisive tiebreak. The Italian imploded after the 2nd point (1-1) and Christian won the match after conquering the following 6 games.
This is Christian 2nd career title after he conquered Houston earlier this year. After this week Garin will go 14 places up in the rankings to be the new world no.33. Career high and more to come.
After this match, Garin has a 20-8 win-loss record in 2019 (18-4 on clay).
