Nick Kyrgios, Grigor Dimitrov and Stan Wawrinka are all in the Wimbledon 3rd round.
Kyrgios
Nick had a good performance against Pico Monaco to win 7-6 (5) 6-3 6-4 in 1 hours and 40 minutes. After the match the Australian commented “I’ve just had a little bit of a sinus infection the last couple weeks. It’s getting to the end stages of it, but it’s still affecting me a little bit. It’s going to go away eventually. It’s pretty annoying at the start of matches. I started getting blurry vision. I thought I dug out the first set well. Obviously lifted my energy towards the second and third.”
Nick will play Raonic in the 3rd round (a re-match of last year’s quarter). Head to head is 2-0 for the Canadian. This is going to be interesting.
Dimitrov
Grigor had tough time against Steve Johnson to win 7-6 (8) 6-2 7-6 (2) after blasting 47 winners. Match Stats.
The Bulgarian commented “Obviously it’s good to go through certain matches in that way, especially in straight sets. With every match I feel that my game is getting better, but I still feel that there are a couple of things I need to sort of tune up, especially for the next round.”
Grigor will play Richard Gasquet in the next round. Head to head is 4-0 for the Frenchman, but they have never played each other on grass.
Wawrinka
The Roland Garros champion is always under the radar in the first rounds of slams (things change later…). The world no.4 defeated Victor Estrella 6-3 6-4 7-5. Match Stats.
Stan will play Verdasco in the next round. Head to head is 2-1 for the Spaniard, but Wawrinka is the favorite to get to the 4th round also because Fernando is coming from 2 tough 5 setters in the first 2 rounds.
