Bouchard loses to Chinese qualifier

Genie Bouchard can’t win anymore.

The Canadian had another embarrassing defeat in the Wimbledon opener to lose to world no.117 Ying-Ying Duan 7-6 (3) 6-4. Match Stats.

Genie had high hopes of bouncing back from a disastrous 2015 in Wimbledon where she reached the final last year, but she disappointed again.

Bouchard: I was injured and unprepared

Genie was deeply sad for losing and she had to admit that she was not prepared after being injured in Eastbourne “I definitely felt tight in the first set. But I also felt very unprepared for this match. That’s unfortunate. But I wanted to play, no matter what. After Eastbourne we did testing and I have a grade two tear in my ab. It probably wasn’t smart to play here, but I couldn’t pass on Wimbledon. So I did kind of minimal preparation to save myself for this match.”

Genie has now terrible 8-12 win-loss record in 2015 (not counting the Fed Cup).

Is she able to bounce back?
