Rafa looked confident on court and it seems that the tournaments he played in Stuttgart and at the Queens Club helped him to have an extra gear in the opener at the SW19.
Nadal: I feel more confident
Rafa was relieved and happy with his performance “I think I played okay; played well, played solid. I am a little bit more confident now than I was few months ago. [It’s] just day by day for me. Obviously victories help.
For the first three-and-a-half months of the season I was playing bad. I lost more matches than usual that I should have won. But the last two months I have been more consistent, more solid in general, and that’s something I am pleased with.”
Next vs. Brown
Rafa will have a very interesting match in the second round against Dustin Brown. Nadal is definitely the favorite, but the German has trashed the Spaniard in the only match they played on grass last year in Halle (6-4 6-1). So… let’s see how that precedent will influence their encounter in Wimbledon.
