Coco Gauff, the 2023 US Open champion, is not resting on her laurels and is setting her sights on achieving more significant milestones in her tennis career. The 19-year-old American has been a standout player on the WTA tour this year.
After winning the 2023 ASB Classic in January, Gauff had a quieter period on the circuit before hitting top form during the North American hardcourt swing. She clinched the 2023 Washington Open title without dropping a set and continued her strong performance.
Gauff secured her first-ever WTA 1000 title in Cincinnati, followed by her remarkable triumph at the 2023 US Open. Despite this incredible success, Gauff is hungry for more Grand Slam victories.
“I think maybe because my eagerness and my ambition is so high, I don’t want to end at just one Slam. I don’t feel any different. The first couple of days I did, then once I got home, I was like, ‘Okay, it’s back to normal,'” Gauff stated during a press conference at the China Open.
Currently on a 12-match winning streak and with 18 wins in her last 19 tour-level matches, Gauff is determined to continue her impressive run. She will begin her campaign at the China Open against Russia’s Ekaterina Alexandrova and is the firm favorite to win, given her excellent form and recent victories against higher-ranked opponents.
As Gauff progresses through the tournament, she could face challenges from tour veteran Petra Martic and 16th-seeded Veronika Kudermetova in her quest to secure further success on the tennis court.

LWWWLLWLWW At the moment ranked no.3 (career-high), Coco played her last match on the 9th of September when she defeated world no.1 Aryna Sabalenka 2-6 6-3 6-2 in the final of the U.S. Open to win her 6th career title.
At present, during this year Coco has a compiled 45-13 win-loss record. Coco has won 4 titles in 2023 in Auckland, Washington, Cincinnati and U.S. Open.
