Raonic defeates Gulbis, Roddick hugely upset (crashes his racket in rage)- 2012 ATP Memphis

2 completely different stories hit the courts in Memphis.

From one side we have the bold Canadian that looks set to enter the top ten spots of the ATP ranking as soon as he can. On the other a former world nr.1 that is going on the other direction.

Yes, Roddick looks unable to reverse the trend. The age (ehm.. Malisse.. is older…) and the continuous injuries seem to be a huge hurdle for the American.

To understand his situation. He is now ranked 27th and he lost to Malisse that is ranked 75th, he did not win in 4 matches in 2012 and he never defeated Roddick in 9 matches and.. he is 2 years older… ahi.

To make the things a bit worse… Roddick was the defending champion, the seed nr.2 and it was the first round! Maybe his wife was right when she said that he would retire from tennis by 2013.

This is a pity for tennis, but as we learned from Lion’s King, it is the circle of (tennis) life.
