Lleyton Hewitt bids farewell to Wimbledon (and almost to his career) after losing an epic 5 setters against Nieminem 3-6, 6-3, 4-6, 6-0, 11-9.

This was Lleyton’s last Wimby and after the match he stood in the middle of the court to receive the well deserved standing ovation from the public.

Great guy… super run!

Hewitt: Great future for tennis Australia

After the match, the 2002 Wimbledon champion said he is not worried for the future of tennis Australia (and he is right!) “A lot of these kids that are coming up, the Australians especially, have a lot more firepower than I had. I had to work on other areas of my game, being mentally tough, different strengths, to get the most out of myself. They’re fortunate they can rely on finishing points quickly and having those big serves they can go to when they need to.”

Talking about the new guys such as Tomic, Kyrgios and Kokkinakis, he added “They all have different strengths. I said the last couple years, a lot of people were quick to write Bernie off after he had the hip surgeries, and I still think he’s going to be a contender the next couple years. (US Open junior champion) Omar Jasika is on the way up as well. Might take him a bit longer just because of his game style.”
