Dayana Yastremska and Karolina Pliskova are going to play in the 1st round of the Madrid Open.

Yastremska is a top-ranked teenager on tour. She has already won two WTA titles, first one was Hong Kong Open in October last year where she defeated 6^th ranked Wang Qiang 6-2 6-1 to claim her first WTA Title. Her 2^nd WTA title came in the Thailand Open where she beat Ajla Tomljanovic 6-2 2-6 7-6 (3). The 38th ranked teenager has 11-7 win-loss record in 2019 with 1 loss in the only match she played on clay. Apart from her two WTA titles, the Ukrainian did exceptionally well in the Australian Open this year as she defeated Samantha Stosur 7-5 6-2 and Carla Suárez 6-3 3-6 6-1 to reach to the 3rd round. It took 23-time Grand Slam champion, Serena Williams to stop the young teenager.

Karolina Pliskova

Pliskova had to miss the recent tournament in Prague as she was suffering from a viral illness. It is to be seen if she is totally fit to face the teenager. She has a 20-5 win-loss record in 2019 with a loss in the only match she played on clay this year. Pliskova made to the finals of the Miami Open where she lost to Ashleigh Barty 7-6 6-3.

This is going to be a very interesting 1st round in Madrid. The rising teenager from Ukraine is on a high and she will definitely be looking to her 3rd WTA title. She has her chance to beat the 5th ranked Czech, who may not be 100 percent fit.
