When Novak Djokovic discussed his possible career in politics after tennis

Novak Djokovic has openly remarked about entering politics and said that he could do far more for his nation without doing so.

Novak Djokovic Talks About Politics

Novak Djokovic, the current world No. 1, once openly discussed his potential political future and asserted that he could accomplish much more for his nation Serbia without getting engaged in politics.

After winning the season-ending title, Novak Djokovic was asked at a news conference if he would be interested in pursuing a career in politics. The Serb gave a negative response, stating that he believed he could benefit his country much more from his absence from politics.

He stated his remarks about his involvement in politics and said: “Do I see myself in politics right now? No, I don’t. I feel like I can do for my country much more without getting in politics, through the work that I do, through the foundation, many different ways that I can contribute to the positive image of my country.”

He added: “I do follow politics. Politics is part of everybody’s life, of course. I try to not get politically involved because I think sports and politics should be at this level separated a little bit. But in many countries, it’s all kind of linked to each other and I’m aware of that.”

Due to the nature of the political systems in his nation and other nations, the 36-year-old stated his disinterest in a future in this profession. He did not rule out the option, though, for the future.

Djokovic concluded his discussion and said: “But who knows what the future brings? I need to be aware that it’s not only me making decisions, it’s my family, it’s close people to me. It’s still a long way. I still see myself playing tennis hopefully on a high level for many years to come. When the time comes, we’ll see.”
