Federer back to world no.3 and aiming at no.1!

Roger is getting closer and closer to the top of the rankings

Roger Federer

Earlier this season, Roger Federer clearly stated that he wasn’t interested at the world no.1 rank, but at winning title. That means that the Swiss sensation that has won 101 titles so far is aiming at Connors’ incredible 109-titles record.

However, by winning titles after titles, it is inevitable that Roger will get closer and closer to the top of the rankings. That is already happening, and the Swiss can also take full advantage that some other top players such as Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, and Alexander Zverev are all struggling for various reasons.

Federer back to no.3

After Sascha Zverev lost his 8th match of the season in the quarters in Munich, the German lost 205 points, and he will be overtaken in the rankings by Federer that will be the new world no.3. The German is well expected to lose some more precious points in the weeks to come since last year he won Madrid (1000pts) and Rome (600pts).

What about the world no.1 rank?

Roger is currently ranked no.2 in the years to date ranking, and he is just 125 points behind Novak Djokovic that is also struggling a lot with his tennis. If Federer has a decent performance in Madrid and at the French Open he has a shot at the world no.1 rank later in the season.

Game on!
