Coco Gauff, the winner of the US Open, has accepted a wild card to compete in the Oct. 9-starting Zhengzhou Open, a WTA 500 competition.
The current Wimbledon champion Marketa Vondrousova, Elena Rybakina, Ons Jabeur, and Maria Sakkari are among the top players in the lineup at Zhengzhou. Gauff enters the Asian swing with a near-perfect summer hard-court season under her belt, having won three titles in Washington, D.C., Cincinnati, and the US Open, and 18 of her previous 19 matches.
Gauff will play again the following week in the China Open. The 19-year-old champion will compete in her first competition following her victory in New York when she competes in Beijing.
Coco commented: “It’s been a huge summer for me and I’m excited to build on my US Open win and put in a really big finish to what’s been an amazing year. We always love playing in front of the Chinese fans so I’m really looking forward to that.”

Now ranked no.3 (career-high), Gauff played her last match on the 9th of September when she defeated world no.1 Aryna Sabalenka 2-6 6-3 6-2 in the final of the U.S. Open to win her 6th career title.
At present, during this year Gauff achieved a compiled 45-13 match record. Gauff has won 4 titles in 2023 in Auckland, Washington, Cincinnati and U.S. Open.
