Tough luck for David Ferrer that had to retire from Wimbledon because of an elbow injury.

The seed no.8 will be replaced by world no.113 Luca Vanni (lucky loser). Apparently if Ferrer had retired 1 hour before, Djokovic would have played Vanni instead of Kohlschreiber and Cilic would have taken Ferrer’s spot.

Nadal was meant to play David in the 4th round andnow he has a clear path to the quarters.

Ferrer: time to recover

David commented “Unfortunately I won’t be able to play at Wimbledon because of an injury to my elbow. It’s time to get better as quickly as possible.”

Ferrer played 50 consecutive slams, the 5th player in this special log (Federer with 62 is the King),
