Naomi Osaka is about to start her run in Madrid where she needs to reach the semifinal to have her world no.1 secured and she received a rather good draw to achieve that.
Naomi Osaka’s projected path
In theory, Naomi has a tough 1st round against a combative Dominika Cibulkova. However, the former world no.4 (now no.33) has been struggling a lot with her results to win just 1 match in 2019 in 7 matches after she crashed in the openers in Sydney, Melbourne, Indian Wells, Miami, and Stuttgart.
In the second round, Naomi will face a wild card and that will be either the world no.110 Lara Arrabuarrena or the world no.75 Sara Sorribes Tormo.
In the third round, Naomi should fight against the world no.15 Anett Kontaveit that is the player that she had to play in the Stuttgart semifinal before Osaka had to withdraw because of an abs injury.
In the quarters, Naomi is projected to play the world no.5 that has been battling with a viral illness Karolina Pliskova.
In the semifinal, the Japanese should clash against Simona Halep that is her main contender for the world no.1 ranking in the near future.
