Nadal Djokovic in Madrid

The top guys are starting to get ready for starting their campaign in Madrid as on Thursday, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, Dominic Thiem, and Stan Wawrinka hit the practice court.

Rafael Nadal

The King of Clay is still chasing his first title of the year. Rafa lost in the semifinals in both Monte Carlo and Barcelona, but he was happy with his level of play at the ATP500 to have good hopes for the rest of the clay court season.

Novak Djokovic

Nole is having a rather awful time after he won the Australian Open. The world no.1 is uncharacteristically nervous, and he seems to have lost his best tennis in the last 2 months. Nole lost in the 3rd round in Indian Wells, in the 4th in Miami, and the quarters in Monte Carlo. He won the title in Madrid in 2011 and 2016.

Dominic Thiem

The Austrian finally has a great run in 2019 after a rather lousy start. Dominic is the only player that won 2 titles this season with Roger Federer after he conquered Indian Wells and Barcelona. The world no.5 is considered as the biggest threat to Rafael Nadal dominance in the next 3 tournaments in Madrid, Rome, and at the French Open.

Stan Wawrinka

Ranked no.33, the Swiss is still trying to play his best tennis after his knee operation. Stan played only one even on clay this year and that was in Monte Carlo where he lost to Marco Cecchinato 0-6 7-5 6-3.

The draw of the ATP1000 will be compiled on Saturday at 11 am.
