It’s not easy being the coach of a great (the greatest?) tennis player if you are sentimentally involved… well, that could be even trickier.
During a recent interview with Patrick Mouratoglou, Serena Williams’ coach… and more, revealed that he had a rather tough confrontation with Serena’s father after last year’s Wimbledon.
What happened?
Serena had a quirky Wimbledon last year to lose in the 3rd round to Cornet and then display a strange behavior in doubles (eventually she had to retire). After that match, Richard was quite upset to ask the Frenchman “You are her coach and now tell me what happened.” Patrick replied, “First of all, if you want the information you need to talk differently to me.”
Apparently, Serena and Patrick broke up for some time, but then they started to be a couple again since last winter.
