Bad news from Milos Raonic since the Canadian will not play the upcoming ATP1000s in Madrid and Rome.

The world no.16 has been struggling for some time with a right knee injury, and he didn’t play a match since Miami where he lost in the 3rd round to Kyle Edmund 6-4 6-4.

This injury is particularly unfortunate for Raonic that was having good results in 2019 after he reached the quarters in Brisbane and Melbourne before losing a tight semifinal in Indian Wells (see score

) to Dominic Thiem that eventually won the tournament.

Will Raonic play the French Open?

It is still unclear if Milos will compete at the upcoming Roland Garros, but given the fact that he performs much better on grass than on clay, it is plausible to expect that he will skip the entire clay court season.

Also last year, Milos skipped Rome and the French Open, and he reached the final in Stuttgart (defeated by Roger Federer) and quarters in Wimbledon (defeated by John Isner) (see 2018 results)
