Isner won a ‘double tiebreak match’ with Muller 7-6 (1) 7-6 (4). Sweeting humiliated his fellow coutryman Blake leaving him only 2 games (6-0 6-2). Harrison defeated the other wildcard (Sock) in 3 sets (6-3 2-6 6-4) and Querrey defeated Falla 2-6 6-3 6-4).
On the Australian side, Tomic suffered from a nasty loss vs Dodig (world nr.58) wasting 2 match points – 5-7, 6-4, 7-6 (8)
