Stefanos Tsitsipas is about to start his campaign in Estoril where he is seeded no.1.
The Greek sensation reached the semifinal last year before losing to home favorite Joao Sousa 6-4 1-6 7-6 (4), and he is determined to go a couple of steps more and clinch his 3rd career title.
Tsitsipas after breaking in the top10
The 19-year-old broke in the top10 early in March after reaching the final in Dubai, but after that, he struggled to register some good runs after he lost in the opening match in Indian Wells, in the 4th round in Miami, in the 3rd round in both Monte Carlo and Barcelona.
Tsitsipas happy in Estoril
During the players’ party, Stefanos commented
“It’s a very strong 250, but that’s what makes it so special and an event that everyone wants to win. For me, it’s an extra motivation. Competing against all of these guys will only make you better.
I have very nice memories from this place. I got a lot of support last year, really nice vibes and really nice energy coming from the crowd and the city itself.”
When will Tsitsipas play his 1st match?
Stefanos has a bye in the 1st round, and he is expected to commence his run on Wednesday against either Guido Andreozzi or Hugo Dellien.
