Roger Federer called Coco Gauff the future of tennis and hailed emerging talent for her recent US Open performance.

For years, Coco Gauff has been lauded as the tennis game’s bright future as we came to know her as a 15-year-old performing admirably at Wimbledon. In the present, Gauff, who is now 19 years old, has won the Grand Slam.

It was just a defining moment for Gauff, who had a winning streak going into the US Open that continued in New York City. This weekend, Federer is here in Vancouver for the Laver Cup, and he was questioned about the current state of tennis at the time. While discussing both Tours, he singled out Gauff on the women’s side, describing her as magnificent and the tennis world’s future.

Federer expressed his thoughts about Gauff and said: “The current tennis scene looks good to me. I mean if I just look quickly over to what Coco Gauff did, you know at the US Open, I thought that was highly special and unique and I’ve known her for almost five years now. She’s incredible.”

Recently, Federer congratulated Gauff for her first Grand Slam title saying: “Inspirational win @cocogauff. Been watching your game and following you for years. It’s great to see so much hard work and passion being rewarded. You shine brighter than ever.”
