With the recent rise of Holger Rune, Jannik Sinner, and Carlos Alcaraz, Roger Federer discussed the young generation of players gaining the spotlight.

In a recent interview, Federer highlighted the current tennis landscape on both the men’s and women’s sides. Federer is now in Vancouver, Canada for his own event, the Laver Cup.

On the men’s side, he emphasized the significant Grand Slam runs of the top three players in the world: Daniil Medvedev, who defeated Carlos Alcaraz to advance to his third US Open final, and Novak Djokovic, who won the Australian Open, the French Open, and his 24th Slam at the US Open. Carlos Alcaraz defeated the Serb to win Wimbledon.

Federer stated his remarks on top players and said: “On the men’s side, we have some great, great moments with Novak rewriting history, Alcaraz winning Wimbledon. I mean, I think, Medvedev played fantastic as well in New York.”

The debate regarding the next generation of stars has intensified due to the success of stars like Alcaraz, Holger Rune, and Jannik Sinner. Federer acknowledged the disappointment at not having faced any of the three young players in a single match.

Federer expressed his thoughts about the young performers and said: “Young guys coming through as well. A generation that I didn’t play very – at all, actually. Rune, Sinner, and Alcaraz, unfortunately, I missed them, you know, playing against them.”
