Roger Federer Showing His Class

In a recent match leading up to the Laver Cup 2023, Roger Federer demonstrated one of his hallmark strokes.

A year after his retirement from the game, Federer returned to the court to instruct young children in the technique of hitting the ideal backhand slice during a junior clinic in preparation for the tournament in Vancouver, Canada in 2023.

It’s interesting to note that Federer’s final court appearance as a professional athlete was for the Laver Cup. At the 2022 Laver Cup, the 42-year-old played doubles with his longtime opponent and colleague Rafael Nadal in what turned out to be his final match.

Tennis fans relished their favorite memories as they reacted to the 20-time Grand Slam champion’s display of talent on social media. Some claim that the Swiss’ backhand slice, even in retirement, is still superior to many top players today. One supporter even urged the Swiss to come out of retirement and play again in order to win another Wimbledon championship.

One fan wrote: “You don’t often see Roger Federer hitting anymore but he did hit during a junior clinic ahead of the Laver Cup in Vancouver…Still as smooth as ever.”

Another fan stated: “My guy is still slicing better than certain top 10 players.”

One fan commented: “The elegance is forever staying with him. Such a natural at this thing.”

Another one wrote: “Come back and win Wimbledon next year king.”
