Giorgi wins 1st career title!

Finally Camila Giorgi wins her maiden title!

The Italian Beauty failed to win her first career title in the last 3 finals, but this time she couldn’t miss it. In ‘s-Hertogenbosch the Italian edged Belinda Bencic 7-5 6-3 in the final in 84 minutes. Match Stats.

Giorgi: It has been a great week

Camila commented “It’s been a great week for me and I’m so happy to bring this trophy home. It was my first time here and it went so well. Every match was great for me this week, and I felt like I was playing more and more consistently every match. And the crowd and the weather were great! Next I’m going to Eastbourne and hopefully I can get even more preparation in for Wimbledon.”

Bencic: She deserved to win

The young Swiss was very gracious to comment “Camila played very well today – she was very tough in the important moments. I played well, but it wasn’t good enough. She deserved to win. But I’m still very happy with my week. Now I’m going to Birmingham and looking forward to playing more matches on grass.”

Both Giorgi and Bencic saved 3 match points during their quarterfinals (Camila vs.. Shvedova, Belinda vs. Jankovic). The Italian is the 4th player to have won a tournament in this season after saving match points on her way to the title after Petkovic (8 MPS saved in Antwerp), Errani (3 in Rio) and Hantuchova (2 in Pattaya)
