AMAZING Naomi Osaka fights her way into the semifinal in Stuttgart

The Japanese beats Donna Vekic to be 2 steps from winning her first title on clay

WTA Stuttgart. Naomi Osaka didn’t hide the fact that she doesn’t have too much experience on clay. However, the Japanese still impressed in Stuttgart after reaching the semifinal following a massive battle against the world no.25 Donna Vekic.

The match

In the first set. Naomi was extremely solid, especially on serve. The difference between the Japanese and the Croatian in the first set was 1 break that the Osaka conquered in the 6th game (4-2) before winning the opener (6-3).

In the second set, things went on the other side with the Japanese losing the set after she was broken for the 1st time in the last game (4-6).

The last set was an incredible thriller. In fact, when Naomi was 1-5 down, the Japanese looked well on her way out from the tournament. However, the Osaka started to play much better when she understood that she had nothing to lose to clinch the following 4 games (5-5) and later bring the affair to the breaker that the world no.1 won at 4. The final score was 6-4 4-6 7-6 (4), and the match ended after 2 hours and 18 minutes.
